As soon as you step inside, you realise that The Barnt Green Inn is bit more than just a local pub. The styling is very up to date, where Eastern ornaments mix with an eclectic collection of miss matched tables and chairs in the bar. Walk through to the dinning area, and you will be impressed by the size of the place. With capacity for over 100 dinners the atmosphere is always going to be bubbling. Relaxing in the soft leather sofas, having a drink whilst waiting for the table, I picked up a Sunday paper, felt the warmth of the open fire and immediately settled in. Not for long however as I was soon taken through to the table.

Again, the menu indicated that this place had a modern, sophisticated outlook. The subheadings of 'Leaves' and also 'Starches' on the menu was intriguing and would have raised an eyebrow for a few people I'm sure. Browsing the menu I became increasingly aware of my hunger as I drooled over such options as Leffe Battered Haddock, Five Spice Slow Roast Pork and Pasta with Chicken, Chorizo, Tomato and Parmesan. This being a Sunday I plumped for a wonderful sounding Roasted Shoulder of Lamb.
I was not disappointed with my selection, the lamb was superbly succulent and was complemented well with mint jus and lightly roasted potatoes. The value was pretty good too with the Lamb Roast costing £9.95 and a 175ml glass of Shiraz was £3.75.
Overall The Barnt Green Inn is a superb example of a modern Gastro-Pub, which keeps the authenticity of a traditional British pub and combines that with modern sophisticated cuisine that goes way beyond chicken-in-a-basket.
